Cowboys outpace Roadrunners

STILLWATER - The first game back for Oklahoma State after a holiday break was rough and rocky, at least to start.

The Cowboys had their hands full against Texas-San Antonio early, as the Roadrunners absorbed and traded punches with OSU to keep the game close through the first 10 minutes of the first half. That span also saw David Monds walk off the court after an alleged spat with head coach Sean Sutton. But after the initial rough patch, the Pokes ended up running away from the Roadrunners and cruising to an 84-47 win in front of a sellout crowd at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Some fans in the crowd saw Sutton and Monds have an argument, with the Georgia forward walking off the court and returning to the locker room. Some rumors even have him quitting the team on the court, but it's important to note that's unsubstantiated and baseless at this time.

The first-year coach said he wasn't playing with any passion and lacked intensity.

"And I just told him to go to the dressing room," Sutton said. "This has happened in the past with other players and, in my mind, this is no different than a player getting kicked out of practice. So hopefully he will get his mind right and come back to the practice court and be ready to go tomorrow."
