AA stands for All-American
Rick Kimbrel
BruinSportsReport.com For those who have had the privilege to speak to Arron Afflalo instantly get the feeling that you are in the presence of a very special human being. Afflalo has earned many post-season honors but there is one thing he would gladly give away to achieve one more goal. The following is part one of a two part series.
Does being named to the first-team AP All-American team mean more than all the others?
Afflalo: "I haven't really looked at it like that over all the other ones that are out. I've been told that this is probably the biggest one or the one, whatever that means. I am very happy about it, but it is a team sport and am focusing more on this weekend so I haven't thought about much.
There hasn't been a lot of time to celebrate all these honors yet that will come later?
Afflalo: "Yeah, I'm after one thing and any individual honors they come because of that."
Can you talk about how you feel about playing Florida again a year later?
Afflalo: "It is special. For one just to get back to the Final Four so obviously to play the team that beat you in the championship last year adds a little incentive and a little motivation for you so hopefully you feed off that and use it to our advantage."
Can you tell us about defensively they have all the same guys they had last year, can you point to anything that maybe you guys tried to do that didn't work last year?
Afflalo: "Defensively or offensively? Well defensively we weren't rotating as quickly and we kept our same defensive scheme that you have probably seen all year where we doubled the post. Both those guys need a lot of attention and being able to rotate and cover down on their shooters. We just have to do a better job and have more focus on the defensive side of the floor."
"Offensively we have to be more aggressive. Last year we were a little passive you can't do that and win a championship game."
